Made in China?

These days you can buy Counter Culture "Hand Shaped" surfboards at Costco!   What isn't made in China?  Nothing against the Chinese but we just need to be responsible.

It's environmentally and economically irresponsible.

Why are Chinese products so cheap?  How can you make surfboard in China, package it, ship it in a container, transport the container to a distribution center, truck it across the country, warehouse it, ship it to a distributor, warehouse it again, and deliver it to a merchant, for less money than to make it domestically?  The answer, cheap labor, no environmental regulations, no insurance, no attorneys, etc., etc. etc.   We wonder why gasoline is $3.50 a gallon.  Think about all the fuel it takes to transport an imported product, which by the way, is also made from fossil fuel derivatives?

The foundation for fossil fuels is carbon. We are extracting more carbon from the earth and releasing it into the environment than the earth's natural carbon cycle can keep up with.  Hence all the talk about global warming.

Were dose all the money come from buy all these imported products?  Is Mr. Monopoly just printing new money 24/7?  Low mortgage interest rates and exaggerated home prices in the US have created a middle class facade.  However, our "Easy Money" resource is drying up so what do we do then?

The driving factor of this phenomenon is the American middles class's obsession with material possessions.  We buy stuff we don't need because we think it's a good deal.  Then we need houses to store all our stuff; bigger cars to haul around all our stuff, bigger garages to store the big cars that haul all our stuff.  Then, we afraid someone will steal all our stuff.  We're gluttons!

We're looking for Boarding Products that are made domestically.   Contact us with your recomendations.

Mahalo.
